چکیده

Protein ingredients for formulation of fish feeds are expensive and have limited availability. Therefore, reducing dietary protein while increasing fat content is a common practice in rearing carnivorous species. However, the ability L-carnitine to alleviate adverse effects such diets currently unknown. This study investigated role supplementation alleviating on growth performance, energy metabolism, antioxidant capacity, inflammation response juvenile largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) fed low high diet. Three were formulated contain (LPHF: 420 g kg-1 150 lipid), LPHF supplemented with (LPHFC: control diet (CON: 480 130 lipid). The 30 ( 10.75 ± 0.01 g) juveniles triplicates eight weeks. results showed that feed increased hepatosomatic index, visceral somatic mesenteric whole-body crude content, serum liver triglyceride concentrations, non-esterified fatty acid level than those CON Moreover, alanine aminotransferase activity malondialdehyde reduced superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities liver. Furthermore, content. Interestingly, feeding LPHFC decreased deposition damage by downregulating expression genes related lipogenesis, inflammation, SOD activity. indicates alleviates caused decreasing lipogenesis lipid catabolism. Our provides novel knowledge strategies improve utilization cultured aquatic animals.

Survival of Foul-Hooked Largemouth Bass(Micropterus salmoides)

We conducted a field experiment to determine the survival rate of foul-hooked (hooked external to the oral cavity) largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) caught and released by recreational anglers. Of 42 largemouth bass caught with hard-plastic baits containing three treble hooks, 15 were hooked only within the mouth and 27 had at least one hook penetrating the external surface of the fish (i...

The Effects of Acute Temperature Change on Prey Capture Kinematics in Largemouth Bass, Micropterus salmoides

The effects of temperature on prey capture kinematics were investigated in the Largemouth Bass, Micropterus salmoides. Five individuals were first acclimated to 22 C and then acutely exposed to temperatures of 15, 20, 25, and 30 C. At each temperature, feeding events were recorded using high-speed video at 500 frames s. An analysis of variance on the five fastest feeding events from each indivi...

ATTRACTANTS IN PLANT PROTEIN-BASED DIETS FOR THE CARNIVOROUS LARGEMOUTH BASS Micropterus salmoides

Adding attractants can improve acceptability of artificial diets by carnivorous fish fry and fingerlings, increasing intake of unpalatable feeds and improving growth rate, while reducing feeding time and feeding wastes. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of levels of inclusion of different attractants in plant protein-based diets on the performance of largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides...

Gene networks and toxicity pathways induced by acute cadmium exposure in adult largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides).

Cadmium is a heavy metal that can accumulate to toxic levels in the environment leading to detrimental effects in animals and humans including kidney, liver and lung injuries. Using a transcriptomics approach, genes and cellular pathways affected by a low dose of cadmium were investigated. Adult largemouth bass were intraperitoneally injected with 20μg/kg of cadmium chloride (mean exposure leve...
